Eight years ago when I decided I was going to learn software development and quit my dead-end job, it was because I was inspired by what I was reading and watching at the time.
This material, these people, were telling me I needed to spend a small percentage of my income regularly on learning.
So I did. And I started reading. And the rest is history.
Watch the video for the info...
And comment below and let me know your TOP 5 BOOKS of all time!

My top 3 books, all of which I have read multiple times in full length and each of which are incredibly inspiring in their own way. I wouldn‘t recommend short form of these. It takes the whole book to actually get the message in my opinion. - The comfort crisis by Michael Easter. This is my favorite book ever. Fun to read and super motivating to work on yourself. If you are looking for motivation and a guide to finally put your phone aside and deal with yourself, your mental and physical health. - How to win friends by Dale Carnegie. An old book that is still valid today. It makes you question your behavior towards other people and shows how far you can get with simply being kind - How to get things done by David Allen. A concept to finally clear up your head, bring structure into all the little tasks of life that subconsciously stress you. I can highly recommend all of these books. They have changed my life and have made a big contribution to my professional success and mental health. Hopefully they will help someone else too.

I tend to disagree with this position. Those who are passionate about coding and have 10+ years of experience should write content when possible. Breaks are important but this does not come at the expense of writing content, good content. There is so much garbage out there and if we don't write content when we have gathered the experience and the pain over the years, we are just being selfish. Now, not everyone should write, some are having a job and love to do music, hiking, or cooking. I'm talking to the passionate developers who encounter resistance and self-doubt when thinking about writing. Development styles and principles are highly opinionated and lead to less quality content. As a mentor, I encourage my developer students to start writing on social media their experience and their lessons. I believe that if we would share more, we would all benefit from it.

I'm 27 and 2 months ago I left my call center job because I felt completely empty and stuck. I took that job because in Latin America you earn much more that way than practicing your profession, but it became unbearable. I got the opportunity to enter a bootcamp funded by a foreign organization and I thought I wasn't going to be chosen, but I was. I've been learning html, css and js for 1 and a half month. Today we had our first hackathon and it was an overwhelming, challenging and exciting experience. I'm so tired, I ended up wondering if this is really for me because it's so hard. I may think I'm being too optimistic about becoming a developer. Your video came to me at the right time, it's not easy but I won't give up, thank you!

I love programming, I have 40+ years of daily programming. I've written code in practically every language and architecture, from kernel to websites, I've done it all, and I'm literally the best programmer I know. I wrote a lot of content, until the wave of toxicity began to dominate the internet, then I stopped, because it's too tiring to bear people's hate. I think "react" was the end of the line, after "scrum", "agile" and "react", programming became a very unpleasant thing.

the tools are never really the question. we can learn and gather whatever tools we need.... the issue is the morality, using those tools in a moral ethical progressive way. 1) this is over looked by many people at the start of career building. substituted for needing to make "money". 2) look at the tech brahs and bankers that end up leaving after accumulating enough wealth to check out from those industries. they burned their souls from both ends for too long. we really need people to consider the paradigm shift of what a good "job" is. what work needs to be done to make a more perfect union, make progressive moves for the general wealth fare of everyone and everything.

I'm a "grad educated developer"; you autodidact developers are welcome. The main difference I think is mainly on how you have got the information and how you made your lab projects (programming tests). But, in the university you also got friends and a society to grasp more intense information than just from the lectures, so that would be the best pro. But the uni is just merely a quick start of your career in software, the more you do IT the more you know ;) Do all your projects like someone paid you to do it. And what would you like to see in the code if you where a stranger to maintain the code?

I am currently deep diving into Deep Learning using PyTorch. I started Python about 4 years ago to plant the seed for AI growth to add to my 30 years of app development. It is true that there are a multitude of functions in torch.nn and sklearn with endless match functions used to train a model and work with neural networks. I hope to be able to return to my fastAPI Python NFL app and level up the use of player/team statistics with some cool projections/predictions. I've tapped into this low code discussion. Sadly chatGPT suggests that low code will allow DEI in coding so that non App Developers can code. From my experiences people in a company other than App Developers don't want to be bothered. Take 'Content Management' for example. This is really a great place for people in a company to control the details of what they want to include and the language and accuracy, legal matters and more. However they often pushed that back on the App Developer. Just being lazy or just overwhelmed with work and don't have time for it. I again point to the human factor as the problem with suggesting low code. I also don't want low code efforts pushed into the code base that compromises the code base and spreads problems from efforts that don't have tight QA or testing controls.
